Côte Rôtie 2022
A challenging year
After a very rainy 2021 (1100 mm), 2022 was much drier (350 mm). This drought was felt from March to the end of August. The vines did not grow much and foliage did not develop much. Thunderstorms at the end of August brought some life-saving rain for the harvest. Unlike 2019 or 2020, September remained fairly cool, with some rainfall. The grapes ripened easily, but without excessive sugar content.
The result is a concentrated, dense vintage, with good power but a more northerly profile than the 2020 or 2019 vintages: a fine balance without excess alcohol.
